Keychron K3, a compact 75% layout 84 keys white LED backlight hot-swappable ultra-slim wireless mechanical keyboard (Exclusive color scheme) built for peak productivity, a great tactile typing experience, and let you personalize per-key typing experience without soldering.
Be ready to multitask without missing a beat by connecting the K3 with up to 3 devices via the stable Bluetooth 5.1 chipset and switch between your laptop, PC, tablet and phone seamlessly. It also has wired mode with USB Type-C connection.
With a unique Mac layout, the K3 has all the necessary Mac multimedia keys while still being compatible with Windows. Extra keycaps for both Windows and Mac operating systems are included.
The redesigned low-profile Keychron optical switch is 40% slimmer than conventional switches with a shorter pre-travel and total travel distance that triggers an input and feedback faster than conventional/normal-profile mechanical switches. With the reinforced aluminum body (plastic bottom frame) make the K3 one of the thinnest and lightweight mechanical keyboards on the market.
You can easily hot-swap every low-profile optical switch without soldering to customize your typing experience on the K3 (*This keyboard is NOT compatible with any conventional MX style mechanical switch). The pre-installed low-profile optical blue switch provides unrivaled clicky responsiveness with up to 70 million keystroke lifespan, and it supports NKRO on the wired mode or 6KRO on the wireless mode.
I bought this keyboard on Prime day, at ~$70 is hard to beat given there is no competitors at this price (Nuphy Air 75 cost ~$130 and Logi MX Mech Mini cost $150+)Thanks to Amazon's generous return policy I was able to test other switches as well, below are pros/cons:Pros:1. Good price. At $70, as a low profile hot swappable Mech keyboard, it has no competitors.2. Decent layout. It is much smaller than a regular keyboard or a TKL keyboard, the right shift key is a bit small but I got used to it quickly3. Good ergo. Thanks to its low profile nature, it is much lower than the regular keyboard which your wrist can rest on the desk naturally. The key distance is much shorter which is good for people typed a lot4. Good switch: It seems the Brown switch issue was fixed, as I don't have typos when rest my fingers on the keyboard. The mint switches are even better.Cons:1. No White color (it's only available on keychron.com, which you need to pay $20 shipping and they have poor customer service)2. Non-standard keycaps. The long keycaps (Enter / Backspace / Right Shift / Space key) has non-standard layout so you can not use your own keycaps.3. Backlight button on top-right, and you can't customize it. It would be much better use combo key to enable backlight, almost all other brands are doing that.4. Poor customer support: Don't get me wrong, Amazon has great customer service and the return policy is great, however customer support from keychron.com is another story, it's email only and it took 4~5 days for them to respond5. No good clicky/linear switches: Due to its low-profile nature, linear switches lead to tons of typos (even for Black switches), and click switches (K3 only support hotswappable optical) sound weird, I tried both blue and orange and they all have the strange mush sound when typing. The gateron low profile blue ones sound much better but they are not supported.Overall, if you are looking for a good low profile hotswappable Mech Keyboard, and you like tactile switches, K3 is a good choice. If you like clicky switches, go with Gateron low profile blue.If you like linear switches, go with regular profile keyboard, low profile + linear switches is a weird combo and it's a typo hell.Had Logitech MX Keys that started to develop some sticky keys. Tried the Logitech Mechanical Mini but didn't love the feel. Got this keyboard with the linear reds and it feels awesome. Will experiment with some of the other switch profiles since these are hot-swappable which is a big plus. This keyboard is more than 50% cheaper than the comparable logitech and just as well made. It's ight, the red switches are light so for a first time typing on these will cause you to accidentally to press a key. Battery would last me a decent amount but I would need to charge it for every 3 weeks. Then not all new key caps will fit on this, but they do feel better then stock ones.I've owned quite a few keyboards looking for the perfect one over the years. I had the regular Keychron K2 before this Slim profile one and while I liked the K2, I think this one takes the cake. I just enjoy that seamless slim profile that gives minimal effort lifting the hand while typing. Yes there is less click but it still feels rather mechanical. This is perfect for gaming and work.I bought this keyboard because the clicking noise of most keyboards gets under my skin. After a few days of use for school and gaming, I find that the noise level (on the red switches that is) is minimal, but not absolutely silent. The low profile keys I also enjoy. The backlit keys have several different light settings; however the static works just fine for me.As far as the Bluetooth feature for this keyboard, I find it works well. My only complaint is that after a period of inactivity, the keyboard will disconnect, forcing me to "wake it up" with a few spacebar mashes to get it to reconnect. I assume this is to save battery life. I could also cut out this hassle by simply wiring it to my computer.Overall, I recommend this keyboard for anyone wanting a sleek and quiet keyboard.Context: I heavily use this for office work and am a heavy typer - use it for notes, document writing and also taking notes during interviewsI am writing this review after using this for 2 months so that I know that this is the right product and that it really helps me in my work. And I can definitely say it does. This is my first mechanical keyboard and I purchased one after a year of deliberation. I always used to type on my laptop keyboard even while using a separate monitor just so that I could become faster in my typing. I use a Mac and right off the bat this comes with a Mac oriented layout. The keys click but but as much to make the experience too loud. When I talk to people and type they are not disturbed when on video calls. I used it in a office setting the noise was not too loud at all for people around me to be bothered by it. The keyboard is smooth and it took me a week to get used to the actuation force but once done my sped definitely improved. The base is aluminumand it gives off a really premium feel and helps with the stability of the product. There are 2 levels of lift in the keyboard, which is a huge plus for me - if I stand and work there is a different inclination versus when I sit and type and this keyboard helps in both. The lights on this one are white and I am quite ok with that. One thing to note - the intensity or backlights is less when on bluetooth mode versus directly being connected (I have attached 2 photos for reference).I prefer smaller keyboards as travel times to keys are less and the fact that I have been typing on laptop keyboards for a long time. The keyboard is sleek and great in transporting and carrying around. The company is selling these keyboards with a promise of being reprogrammable and having the right firmware, turns out to be just a marketing motto, they have never released a firmware in 2 years, The claim on their own website to use VIA keyboard also seems to be false.Quality is alright, but not great. Ergonomics are pretty bad actually, I had to put some padding underneath the extended but insufficient feet.Layout is fine but not optimal. The arrows and keys are positioned a bit weird so you randomly hit home/end when you want to enter. Again - some unnecessary and rather annoying keys like print screen / screenshot that I keep hitting randomly and apparently there is no way to disable them yet.Pros:- Portable. Easy to bring to and from the office;- Solid build;- Looks good;- Solid wireless connection;- Flexible connection - wired or wireless;- Multi-device. Program and toggle between 3 devices;- Quiet (Red switch).Cons:- Physical switches for switching between Off/Cable/Bluetooth and Mac/iOS and Windows feel flimsy. Difficult to tell which position the switch is in just by feel.Recommendation: Yes. Great alternative to notebook built-in keyboards.I really enjoy this keyboard, the switches are better in general vs the ROG Falchion red and Huntsman Mini purple. I thought by spending a lot I would get a lot. The feel and sound of the keys and switches on the mentioned gaming boards are terrible in comparison to the K3. However, I dislike how easily the keycaps show fingerprints. The white LEDs are bright enough and have a decent temp for me. I have no idea what the temp is but it looks to be slightly on the warmer side vs a cool blue temp. Paired with a tablet to get some light work done, excellent purchase. As for gaming, I'm a little more than a casual gamer. Mostly FPS, PUBG, Val, COD etc. I haven't wanted to switch back to the gaming boards but would not cheap out on the mouse I use.If it matters I use:Wireless Model D3700x OC'd to 4.212080 TiM.2 for the OS and SSDs for games64GB of ram @3200, Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB (excessive but only $100 CAD)Lian Li Galahad AIOI have been daily using this keyboard for 3 months for school, work, a little gaming. So far this keyboard hasn’t let me down. Its so light and small, perfect for small tables like mine and easy to carry around the room. Its also thinner than an airpods pro case. The key feels nice and although the frame is plastic, its sturdy enough. The backlight has sooo many options sometimes it gets annoying when you have to go through all the options to find the one you liked. The bluetooth/cable button placement is not my favourite but they’re okay. The biggest problem is the bluetooth connection isn’t close to perfect. Sometimes the connection goes on and off while typing from 2 meters away. When happens, the keyboard somehow may be stuck sending one key signal to the pc. I dont know if this only happens to mine or its a common issue
