There are one or two bugs: the most irritating is the famous "tower bug," in which assaulting troops get stuck in their assault tower.The program will sometimes crash, though this can be much reduced by turning off anything on your machine that might issue pop-up notifications. Running without other open windows helps.There are some repeating "battle crashes," in which the game will shut down in the middle of a battle repeatedly. To avoid this, I'm afraid you have to go back and restart your game from the last save-point. As with any strategy game, it's a good idea to save after all significant moves.There are irritating lapses in the realism at the games Easy and Moderate levels: for instance if you drive an enemy from his own walls, he'll almost never attempt to retake them. While this is a great tactical advantage to you, it tends to flatten out your battle-plans: you don't even need that contingency plan.All that said, RTW is my very favorite strategy-and-tactics game. It adapts brilliantly to your tastes: if you just want to play the strategy side, you can have the computer handle your tactics, manage your cities, fight your battles automatically. I'm a bit of a control freak and like to manage my cities and the characters in the game pretty closely, and the game rewards such diligence. Without cheats or tricks, you can expand the game's capabilities by creating super-characters with lots of experience and strong character-traits who can fight battles or manage cities as you like.From a military-historical point of view, the game has done a lot of homework: units perform well or poorly under varying conditions (dark, forests, mountains, deserts, snow, even rain). Strong cavalry can win the day in the field, but are scuppered against walls or a decent shield-wall. Archers must be deployed with their vulnerability to cavalry in mind. And so on endlessly.It's great good fun.Okay, so let me start off by saying I NOW FINALLY have this game. Though I didn't download it successfully from Amazon. The price advertised is great $7.99, I wanted to take advantage of it, but unfortunately It would not download/install successfully. The problem was in one or both of those processes. Keep in mind this was the Mac download. The game itself is great, lots of fun and you'll find time flies. But you're looking in the wrong place to get this game. Im just trying to save you the hassel, frustration and time waste that I went through. I got an error message reading the game was broken or something.. Im sorry its been a month or so since I tried downloading this so I don't remember exactly what it said. I called Amazon and was asked for my account info, talked to the lady, then she tells me I have to hold again for a product specialist. Product specialist was really nice and told me to delete any trace of it on my computer and reinstall it. I did and got the same error message, I call again, to avoid the waste of time told the lady to transfer me to a product specialist, about my game that I downloaded, I waited, waited, got through... she transferred me to the amazon app store for phones..the guy talked to me we both realised he wasnt talking about the same thing I was, he transfers me again...I get to the right product specialist, and was told all they could tell me is to uninstall and re install, maybe restart my computer. "Thats all the trouble shooting steps we have here" "Call Sega" is what a lady told me on the phone..some help. She was nice, but not too helpful. In the end I just asked for my money back (they gave me the option right away the first time, but told me that their trouble shooting steps might be all that I had to do. So I could try it again or just get my money back now.) it obviously wasnt working. So I just painfully bought it from the apple app store for $30..I was annoyed, angry, but in the end very happy because It worked the first time, I was able to finally enjoy my game, and have been loving it ever since. If you want to give it a try, go for it. But be warned about the possibility of going through what I did. I dont know what it was that caused it to happen for me but it did. I'll def. still try Amazon one more time in the future to download a game. Be warned if it doesnt work once, it more than likely wont work the second time.Enjoy the game!Will not save game. You need to start all over every time. I have Yosemite OS which may be the problem. Contacted support from company they responded with request for system specifications. Have not heard from them. If you buy software from Amazon that does not function, there warranty excludes a refund. Be careful when downloading software from Amazon as you may be stuck with a lemon. with no recourse except your rating. I liked the game, all you have to do is get into the mind set of "Fifty First Dates". To be honest the System requirements were Mountain Lion OS not the Os I am using.Update............. The company send me this email than that e-mail try this do that blah blah blah you get the picture. Anyways it doesn't work and I was supposed to have fun with this not spend my time trying to figure out why it doesn't work sounds, like old windows days. So I lost out on this one.
